Palos Verdes Peninsula Rotary Club Scholarship

High School Scholarship Program

Many of our country’s future leaders will have the D.K. Kim Foundation to thank for the opportunity to pursue their career ambitions.

— Palos Verdes Peninsula Rotary Club

Since 2009, The D.K. Kim Foundation has supported the Palos Verdes Peninsula Rotary Club in their mission to provide financial aid to students in need.  The foundation has contributed 20% of the funds that have been awarded through the Palos Verdes Peninsula Rotary Club as well as supporting the Los Angeles/San Pedro Harbor Boys & Girls Club College Bound Program.   Mr. Kim is committed to continued support of the Club.

Recipients of the D.K. Kim Scholarship are chosen based on their demonstrated history of academic achievement, community service, teacher recommendations, and financial need, which carries a weight double the other factors when evaluating applicants.

In 2012, the recipients of the D.K. Kim Scholarship were awarded funding to attend among the country’s finest universities.

The 2012 recipients are:

  • Chelsea Lim, Dartmouth College
  • Caitlin Zellers, Vanderbilt University
  • John Foley, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo
  • Ji Eun Chung, Emory University
  • Kayla Takemoto, UC Irvine
  • Carol Fung-Mine Lam, Claremont McKenna College

These recipients embody the commitment to service the D.K. Kim Foundation is dedicated to promoting in its mission. Their voluntary service has been completed at organizations such as Help the Homeless Help Themselves, the Korean Daily Newspaper, Han/Schneider International Children’s Foundation, Torrance Memorial Medical Center, Palos Verdes Land Conservancy, the Richstone Family Center, and the International Environmental Service Club.
